The illustrious Syrens of the South production company presents the fourth installment of their Steampunk dance events dubbed the Mechanical Masquerade. Spotlighting the social scene that takes a futuristic look at alternative history in the way that Jules Verne and the science fiction writers of long past had done which makes the Steampunk subculture so unique and its effect has leapt from literature into music, art, and fashion.
This July 17th, the Syrens’ summer soiree is sure to raise those pressure gages to bursting. The music selections of Doctor Q and the entertainments provided by the Syrens are sure to make July even hotter. While many normally dress in large coats and brass for these dances, this summer we expect to see parasols, fans, and seersucker suits a-plenty.
If you have yet to attend a Mechanical Masquerade, you are in for a real treat. Not only is the music an eclectic array of entertaining delight, not only are there dancers and magicians and musicians oh my, but there are also a varied variety of vendors to feast the eyes of homespun crafts, stitched attire, mechanical marvels, and dazzling works of art and beauty to be had. It is truly on the forefront of the upcoming social scene that is gaining ground quickly. One could even say it’s full steam ahead. Be sure to arrive at 8pm and once the sun’s down and stay for the cold drinks, good company, and good times. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.syrensofthesouth.com.
